Tanggal 31

Jangan tanggal baju, ya? Hehe.

I know it's a little late, it's 10.30pm on 31st August now.

Anyway, Happy Merdeka Day!

I'd like to post an update before August ends, that's all. Haha. So much has happened this month. First, it's all the birthdays. Thanks to everyone for your wishes. =D And then I also found out that I was selected for NS in August =/ I turned 17? Hehe. Beijing Olympics! Who could forget that? I have the Olympic Syndrome. Haha. Joan & I talked about our plans to go to the London 2012 Olympics and maybe volunteer! Big dreams, I know. But hey, 'Impossible is nothing' - Adidas.

Yesterday was also my last day at work. I'll miss the kids, maybe. I'll miss the Yamaha keyboard. Haha.

I gotta say this- Eunice is a wrapist. NOH. haha. She's a good present-wrapper. I had to go through so many layers or present paper to get to my beloved present. She's so sweet. It's that or she just had too much present paper+tape/free time. =P It's was fun though. Oh, the suspense. Haha. I did tell her what I wanted for my birthday and she kept joking around that she'd buy the pirated one for me and I was all "Eee... Speedy bah." Lol.

*Yeah, I love music that much that I'd buy the original. Sue me for not being Malaysian enough, huh? Haha.* You'll see what I mean..

So, these are photos of the 'process of opening my present wrapped by Eunice'.

4 photos and not a glimpse of the present yet? Yup, that's Eunice.

Oh, yeah! MARIE DIGBY! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! *all smiles*

I opened my present at the Bilik Kuliah during Maths. I was paying attention too, okay. I opened it bit by bit. Mana tau she wrapped it like that so it took me 2 periods to open it. I didn't want to tear it open quickly like those kids in the movies on Christmas morning, I wanted to be.. surprised. Haha.

So that was what I meant. Marie Digby. Gotta have the original! =P
I would like to recommend dear Belle one of her songs. It's called 'Voice on the Radio'. Belle, listen!

As you can see up there, there are little notes on blue paper. Neece did that. She attached some punched (you know those you get from the punchers if that's what there're called) flowers to it and I had to collect and count it in order to 'CLAIM A PRESENT'. I was like- Huh? Another present? Sweeet. Lol. So I counted and showed her the flowers. I really didn't expect her to give me another present. I thought she was joking and all because we're like that. We joke all the time and make fun of each other. A day without all that would be like Mel & Will talking and (sometimes debating) about plants rather than hot girls (from school and also from the Olympics, e.g-Nastia Liukin). Boring, right? hahaha.

The next day, she put the present in my desk. (I put her hippo in her bag. Wahahaha.)

It was the cutest cow, ever! Haha. Thanks.

Everyone, meet Mu Mu. Mu Mu, meet everyone. Be nice ah.

She insisted that I named the cow Mumu Sng Niu Niu. Haha. Neece, unlike you, I do not give my stuffed animals full names. =P

Thanks to friends for the presents. (I have 2 dwarfs. neninenipoopoo.) And thanks once again for the birthday wishes.

Oh, not forgetting- thank you to mom and dad. Thank you for getting me a capo (they didn't know what it was at first). Mine's something similar to Bernard's. Now I can play 'Say It Again'! .. and many other songs.

That's about it for tonight, last night of August. Mock exam is next week and I'm not in form nor ready. UGH me.

Off I go, watching vids on YouTube and listening to Marie Digby. I wanna meet you, Marie!! =D Thank you for replying! *I should focus on my studies MORE.*

I dream big. Anything wrong bout that?
Koko, Ah Na (haha) - wish you were here.

Just a photo. Random.

I would also like to wish the oh-so-adorable Gladys a 'Happy Belated Birthday'. She turned 16 yesterday. And 'Happy Birthday' to Wendy & Roselind whose birthdays are today.

I never ever thought that I'd share my birthday with so many people that I know. Here's my wish to all the 26 August babies:
~Alvianz (who went to Azrin's school. I hope he regrets not being an Amethyst this year. Muahaha)
~Andy Sim (not the one who sang 'Kenangan Terindah', this one's from Kch High)
~Andrea (my fellow, junior Amethystian)
~Raymond (Albert's younger brother who keeps calling to look for my brother ..)

I also share my birthday with Mother Teresa and squash queen, Nicole David. Whee!

Usain Bolt and Demi Lovato are August babies . Haha. Natalie Coughlin too!

Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all of them and to me!

CMC Merdeka Month Sale. :)

Breaking news: Usain Bolt just broke the WR for Men's 200m and it's 10.30pm. He's on fire. And he's celebrating his birthday tomorrow. What a birthday present, to win two gold medals and set two new WRs. Great people are born in August. How august. Haha.

I'm doing a promo here, for my music school, Classic Music Conservatory aka CMC.

We're having a sale/promotion from 8th till end of August. Discounts on items such as music books, instruments and also stationaries. Erm.. we have music books for piano, violin, guitar, cello, vocal and all that. For instruments- violins, violas, cellos, guitars, pianos, keyboards... I wish I could have them all but... haha. I bought my (still quite new) violin from CMC back in February. I bought it then just so that my brother can see it :D haha. (You have a drum set in your house there can?)

I don't have enough skills (unlike someone. haha.) to take a nice picture of my violin, so here's one I took quite a while ago.

My baby. Do not touch. Haha.

Here's a brochure. Click to enlarge (the brochure). I'm too lazy too scan it.

I remember that we have High School Musical, Cheetah Girls, songs from Disney movies, Pirates of The Carribean, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Christian Music, Jazz, K-Pop music books. They're on display, so I see them all the time. There's also Mozart, Beethoven, Handel and all that of course.

CMC is located at No. 467, Heights Drive Comm. Centre, Lorong Stutong 9, Jalan Stutong, 93350 Kuching. Tel: 012-889 0589. No fixed line yet cos' Telekom hasn't..... no telephone lines. :P

It's near One TJ Mall.

My teacher posted some pictures of the instruments at the website I linked above or you can just click here if you're lazy to move your mouse and scroll all the way up again.

Umm.. The principle aka my violin teacher is Mr Brian Lee. Don't worry, he won't eat you up. Haha. He's a nice guy. Then we have a few piano teachers and another violin teacher. (They're nice too :D) Everyone's nice lah.. haha. The guitar (elec./acoust.) and drum teacher is Edwin Then (StarLight). Morgan pulled out a few months ago. Haha. Sorry, if I left out anyone.

Oh. Tabitha works at the front desk on Sundays, don't know if she's still working or not. I found out that we're related in a very complicated way when she told me so a few months ago.

Mayuh mayuh Lodgians come on weekday afternoons oh. .. What's my point anyway. Haha. Well, they come in their uniforms, that's how I recognize them. Got Koreans. Anyonghaseyo! I have a Korean students myself.

I bought a music book last week and I got a 20% off. So I saved like 11 bucks. So, go grab your favourite music book before i buy them! haha..

Good luck, Sabrina! USA... I wanna go also.. LOL.

How august can August be.

Birthday wish: Happy Birthday to Qing Cheng aka Allister/Alistair who turns 2 today! I bet he's really naughty now. :P

3 new track and field world records so far in the Beijing Olympics. Usain Bolt cruised to victory in the 100m men's finals in just 9.69s and another one in the women's 3000m steeplechase and last night, by Elena Isinbaeva!

She only made two jumps in the finals and she won the gold medal. TWO JUMPS. How easy was that? While others made like.. more than 2? She skipped all the heights below 4.70m. While others were pole vaulting, she was sitting down on the grass, in her jacket, tracks and cap, just laying back and waiting for them to raise the bar.

She cleared 4.70m in her first attempt and then she skipped 4.75 and 4.80. She also managed to clear 4.85m in her first attempt. The American who was in 2nd place cleared 4.80 but decided to skip 4.85 and went for 4.90 instead. She failed in all 3 attempts and the gold went to Isinbaeva.

Isinbaeva went on with 4.95m even though she's already won. The OR was 4.91m set by her back in Athens. She cleared 4.95m in her 3rd attempt. Then.. she went on, raising the bar to 5.05m - just 1cm higher than her WR of 5.04m that she set this year. Oh, what suspense.

"You, woman who jumps the highest. If you can jump so high, there's no obstacle too great to overcome."
-quoted from 'The Best of Us' Olympic advert.

I was standing up the whole time. I wanted her to make 5.05m so bad.. haha. New WR bah. Who wouldn't wanna see someone break a WR?

Oh she made it! 3rd attempt. kintio leh. What a great, world-class athlete.

She talks/whispers to her pole everytime before running down the track and doing her thing. In an interview, she said maybe she'll tell us what she says to her pole, once she retires from the sport that is.

The Russian Pole Vault Queen.
-news, results, photos from the Olympics are available at the
official website.

Quick question. Since Ivanovic pulled out, ... is Elena up to William's standards? Haha.
Oh. Kluft qualified for the long jump finals and Bolt's running tomorrow night.

So, my birthday's in a week. I'm turning 17. I haven't planned anything yet but .. God's adding another year to my life :D

I've always wanted a capo and I thought my birthday would be a great time to get myself one.

That is Bernard's capo. How kind of him to lend it to me for a few days :) I want one! haha. I want the one like his. He said it costs around RM50. I hope I can get one within this week so that I can play 'beautiful music' during the hols :P Songs like 'Teardrops on My Guitar', 'Carry You Home' and Marie and Colbie songs (I think) need capo. It raises the pitch and makes it sound nicer :)

I also want...

Marie Digby's Unfold. She's awesome. She's a Youtuber! Haha. She did an acoustic version of a techno song- Gimme More. Is that song techno-ish? Haha.

Neece, have you bought my present or not? Haha. Never mind, surprise me. :)

I watched a live online concert by Marie back in May/June during the mid-term hols. (Thanks to Facebook and Deep Rock Drive for that) I actually missed the first few minutes because I woke up late :( It started around 6am Malaysia time.

You can send messages and they will appear on a huge screen which is in front of her. So she can actually read the messages while performing. Lol. She also answered questions asked by viewers in between songs. She's so sweeeet. Too bad she didn't answer me :( maybe my messages came in while she was singing or something. Haha. Then, you can also vote what song you want her to play next, and you can clap, send a kiss, cry and so on by clicking on the icons 'there'.

It's live, it's free! Just claim your free pass and you can watch any concert by any of the featured artistes. I think you have to have a Facebook account too.

LEONA! *with British accent*. That's how she announcer said her name on X-Factor. :P

Her voice is amazing. Have you heard her sing Mariah & Whitney songs? Chills man..

Ryner makes fun of the way she sings 'Bleeding Love'. Haha. Ask him to show you how he does it (it comes with The Ryner face expressions and hand gestures).

I also want................ to go to Niu Jeelan! New Zealand! Haha. I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want...There's Burger King at NZ? I want Burger King.

My violin needs polishing. Hence, I need a violin polisher! haha.

More randomness. Athletic spike shoes are cool :D I'm hungry. I want bak gua, kolo mee, kampua mee, dim sum, and my younger brother's cha mee and cha kueh tiaw! His cha mee/cha kueh tiaw is really nice, can. I don't know why but I like it. It's like the ones from the stalls. I'd rather eat his because I don't have to pay, and all I have to do is wash my plate after eating. haha.

Violin tomorrow morning. Adios.

Dinner with 'Tiger' tomorrow. :D
I'm so random today..

An Ass xP

For the past 48 hours or so, I've been thinking about NS. Not 'Nathaniel Sia' nor 'Nicole Sim' (lame, I know. haha) but National Service.

Yeah, yeah. If not every, then most Form 5s have already checked whether or not they're selected for NS. Some were just afraid to know the truth XP. There seem to be some sort of a pattern in my class. First, it's the seating arrangement in Row 1. It's a zig zag pattern.

I'm arranging these names in their birthday order. (not according to class, just among my friends)

Stef, Joan, Nathaniel, Jason, Emm, Jeremy, Carrie, Eunice, Me, Rachel....

Stef-selected.
Joan-not selected
Nat-selected
Jason-not selected
Emm-selected
Jeremy-not selected
Carrie-selected
Eunice-NOT SELECTED
Me-selected
Rachel-not selected

Okay. I might have missed out some names in between but I just wanted to make the pattern look nice. Lol. And (yeah..) I'm selected. Belle and Eric too!

Click the image above, then congratulate me. XD (Don't.)

First, I checked using the SMS service yesterday afternoon right after school, before my theory class. Joan gave me the number and this time, the SMS only cost 20 sen! The 33995 was 50 sen okay and I didn't get my answer from that one. haha. I took my phone into the bathroom just in case the message came in while I was showering. (See how anxious I was..) But it only came like 10 minutes later.

RM0.20: PLKN: Tahniah! *IC No.* YVONNE SNG dot dot telah dipilih untuk menyertai PLKN Siri 6/2009.
When I saw the SMS, I was like macikudotdotdotdotdotdot. But as the day passed, I realised that it wasn't so bad. I did tell myself before this that if I got it, then let it be and if I don't then yay. So I'm having mixed feelings bout NS. I'm getting more and more excited bout it though. But I shouldn't let it get to my head too much, Zone Trials is in less than 3 weeks and SPM in 89 days.

Devote 3 months of 2009 to NS? First batch please. *I don't wanna jinx anything anymore. Haha.*

Azizul said I'm following Susan's footsteps.. Haha.

On Saturday night, (when the whole of Sarawak was electricity-less) my family and I were at Pijja Hut for dinner. Pijja pijja. Your fault, Belle. Lol.

*the conversation was in half English, half Hokkien but I'll type in English anyway.*

Dad: Did you keep in touch with your Koko (brother)?
Me: Yeah.
Dad: You chatted with him?
Me: Yeah, yesterday...
//
Me: He's sending me something.
Parents: *HUH?!* What for? Waste money, so expensive...
Me: Aiyah.. never mind lah.
Dad: What for, you're going there anyway.
Me: I am? End of the year? You said it oh..

Really, dad? After SPM and violin exam, for holidays? Pretty please... You said it boh.. NZ is fun. ROADTRIP!! Ahhhhhhh. Haha. Anyone wanna tag along? Be my guest. Neece, NZ is nice. I know you've got the moolah. haha.

Left, right.. SHEEPS/COWS/HORSES. Strawberries. Bungee. Shotover Jet. Cool air. MILK and ORANGE JUICE EVERY DAY. MEAT. PIES. BACON *drools*. The Haka dance! Enough said.

The last time I went to NZ, I had a blast. It was the best holiday-roadtrip ever. My uncle planned the whole trip and we covered both North and South Islands in 3 weeks. We even spent Christmas there. I really bonded with my siblings and cousins. Breathe, eat, laugh, sleep together for 3 weeks, how can we not bond? It was great. Although some bum-hole broke into our MPV and stole my bag. SCREW YOU, still.

Since my brother is there now and he's been enjoying himself there, it's about time for my turn. And you can be my tour guide, ko. :D I wanna go to that place with the maze and the illusion stuff. skiing and the LOTR set and the list goes on. Haha.

Sighs. Lets not wonder too much.

I'm off to watch Badminton now. MC Wong lost. Sighs.

Congratulate me and wish me luck! Thoery exam next Monday. Yikes.

I dread.

For the past hour, I've been TRYING to check the PLKN website to see whether I'm in the 2009 list.

But.. the page won't load. As a matter of fact, all PLKN related pages won't load! How frustrating. My friends can't check either.

So I tried SMS-ing instead. (nicole gave me the right numbers. haha).

SMS came in:

RMo.50. Data pemilihan pelatih Khidmat Negara untuk tahun 2009 masih dikemaskini. Anda akan dimaklumkan nanti. Terima Kasih.

Yeah. That's right. Make sure I'm not in the list. *don't jinx it. don't don't don't.*

I don't mind going but I have better things to do then, don't I? Haha. OH YES I DO. =P

I'm off to finishing my Chem report now.

A new day has come

I meant to post this on 8th August, but I was in the living room watching the opening ceremony all night long. It only finished just now, early 12am. So, now I'm hungry.

I've also decided to skip co-curriculum tomorrow and go play badminton instead. Suddenly I've stopped caring bout KK marks, which is bad for me. I can't make up my mind about certain things. I need Him, always. I know He knows.

Too much has happened on 08/08/08. First, Olympics' opening ceremony; everyone knows that. Also, Neece's birthday. :D And I received news, that my friend's younger sister had been called by the Lord to be with Him.

It's sad news but we cannot decide when to end someone's life, it's all up to God. He's planned our lives for us from the very beginning. He knows all about us. And most importantly, He loves us. He's our Father, and we are His children.

I wanna dedicate this vid/song to EUNICE! who just turned 17 not so long ago.. Haha. And also to Joan. You may be small but you're a strong person. May God bless your xiao mei mei's soul and may she rest in peace. <3s face="trebuchet ms">

Thank you to Belle, who introduced this song to me. (Belle is my source for Chinese songs :P) This song is for you also lah.. :P Everyone lah. Haha.
It's (the vid) nothing great but, what the heck. I love ya'll and I appreciate ya'll.

Since Belle posted bout this, I thought why not join in the fun? (Refers to 080808 post). Neece, please don't be all mad or anything, you're pwetty and hawt. Haha. Belle, I too, have a picture of Neece doing some weird expression.

Tomorrow marks the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. And also Neece's birthday.

Neece, I'm so gonna watch the Opening Ceremony than celebrate your birthday! (That is not true, you know that. But I am going to watch the opening ceremony.. )

I'm looking forward to two events- Badminton and Athletics.

Badminton, the usual lah.

Athletics, I wanna watch Carolina Kluft.

She used to take part in the heptathlon (Gold medallist in Athens) but she's only taking part in long jump and triple jump this time. She said she's lost the motivation.

Olympics. Can't wait. Oh, I like the Olympic advertisement on Astro. The one with Yao Ming, Powell, Isinbayeva, Kluft, Federer and all that.. Haha.

Express CB in the form of xi + yi

Message: Happy Birthday to Cindi and William! I don't know what to get for Neece. Moss? Haha.

I had assembly today. A few of us choir members have to sing the national anthem, Ibu Pertiwiku, and the school song during every assembly and I'm one of them. Good lah. Cause' I don't have to stand down there like the other students. Haha. Instead I get to sit in the classroom, and it's not hot 'cos there're fans. But we cannot talk. I whispered, so whatever. I'd still talk. Haha.

Zaty, Ralph and I were sitting together in the class and then Zaty asked me what is SLAD.

Zaty: SLAD. What's SLAD ah?
Me: SKIM Lencana Anti Dadah.
Zaty: Oh.. .. Slut. Haha.
Me: *laughs*
Zaty: Ralph is in SLAD, right?
Ralph: *joins in our conversation*
Zaty: Slut. I'm a slut, you're a whore *points at me* and he's a bitch *points at Ralph*
Ralph & I: *giggles giggles giggles. trying to contain ourselves because we can't be too noisy.*
Zaty: Slut=perempuan ..
Me: jahanam.
Zaty: No.. perempuan jalang! Bitch=perempuan miang. Whore=perempuan murah.
All: *haha* "___"

I don't know why but I had to go to the toilet so bad that time but some teacher was still giving his speech and I didn't want to walk out of the class otherwise everyone down there can see me. Haha. So I just waited until we finished singing the songs and for assembly to end.

I got a 30/30 for rumusan. I can't believe it. My BM teacher marks strictly by the way. And when Ryner saw my paper, he was like:

Ryner: LOOK! Yvonne got a 30!
Me: Yah.. I don't know.. *I really don't. I just hamplang write. I never expected to get 30 anyways. I'm always around 25 or so*
Ryner: Look, Wendy! Yvonne got a 30! Wendy only got 29.
Me: ....... *giving the 'you-didn't-have-to-tell-the-world' look. Haha*

See, Wendy is the alpha woman, the smart one, the one who gets good marks (better than me that is), yada and I don't think she was happy to hear that I got a 30. Terasa kot.. Overall I got 83.5/110 for that paper. I only got 1 mark out of 6 for the 'Bina ayat' section! How depressing.. I forgot that we cannot make two sentences for one word, you see. And 'sauh' is not for bot, only kapal!. Haha.

Neece asked me to post about this cos' she doesn't want to? Heh.

It's an Add. Math question. She got it correct, I got it wrong because I didn't really know how to do it. (Actually I know how, but it was in a diagram so I got confused. haha. I'm not as GOOD as Neece Moss at Add. Math. I'm okay. At least I improved from a 58 to a 72 this time but I could have done better.)

So here's how the question goes.. I'm referring to question (a) by the way. I got (b) correct :D

'Express CB ....'

Neece: Express CB wei.. Haha.
Me: *gives her the makuku look and laughs* Eeee, you!

Express 'CB'. If you know what I mean. Come on, you HAVE to know what it means. Haha.

Since Neece got it right, I guess she's better at 'expressing CB' than I do. :P :P :P
Oh, Neece! You're da expert! Haha. Ok, that sounded so wrong.

The question is funny, ok. Teacher could have used other more decent letters but noooo, CB. CB lah. Haha.

Belle: You express lah.
Me: Don't want... your express lah.

I don't hate add maths anymore. I used to hate it so much, last year. It's just that sometimes it frustrates me when I can't understand something or questions and I don't know how to do them. I'd be able to the first part, then I don't know how to continue. I love add. maths. So fun. Especially .. no 'especially' lah. But I do find Circles and vectors quite easy. That CB question up there is a Vector question and I got it wrong *ugh*.

FYI, I don't go for any tuitions (except for violin+music theory but that doesn't count because I'm not taking Music for SPM, right? Haha) *yer yer* I think I'm doing okay lah. I just need to persevere, and ask for help when I don't understand something. Allow me to quote Ryner, "HAVE FAITH!" Sometimes I say that to him.. like during BM period today when he said he got an 18 for rumusan. Haha.

Neece, if. IF I get better marks in Chem and Phy, it just proves that people like you don't need tuition cos' you're actually naturally smart, like your brother. Haha. (Neece turned into a 'tuition person' this year). Blah I'm rambling. Haha.

Oh, I'd like to share an idiom with ya'll. I found it in the Longman Idioms Dictionary-Over 6000 Idioms. Haha.

  • TEACH YOUR GRANDMOTHER/GRANNY TO SUCK EGGS BrE -used in order to say that someone is telling you something that you already know.
Example: Telling Eunice how to shop is like teaching your grandmother to suck eggs.

It's sounds a little rude, you think?

I'm hungry and I have ceramah motivasi tomorrow morning. Me no likey sit in the hall and listen to ceramah. :( And I have EST to do.. I also received the SPM timetable today. Bio and Physics back to back. NOOO! And it's until 430pm every day. I have to teach teach myself to stay awake in the afternoons because I always nap. The thing is, I only have to go to school for 8 days for SPM (10 subjects). All this while, I've always thought that SPM would be like 3 weeks for 10 subjects. Haha. So, it'll start on the 11th and mine will finish on the 27th. After that I'll have to concentrate on violin. YIKES. THEN... I can do whatever! Online all day! Haha. Badminton, I want to play =|

Je suis une fille intelligente.
Eunice is taking French for SPM and I'm taking Iban. RIGHT.

Stop and stare

I skipped school today. Well, kinda.

For the first four periods+recess, I was at GRSS. I went to sit for the ICAS English Paper thingy with Nat. Boy were we stared at! My mom told me to wait outside the class where the test was gonna be and the other GR students were waiting there too. And when Nat and I were standing there, I was saying to him "We're foreigners, remember?". Everyone stared at us and we could see that their face expressions were like: "What are they doing here? What? BL students? What? What? Why? Why?". Then I saw one of my primary school schoolmate. I greeted her. Then I could hear her friend whispering (loudly that is, that's why I could hear her) to her, asking her why I'm here and so on. So I said, "Yeah, we're here for the test..."

"___________"

I hate being stared at. It's not nice to stare at people, know? Unless you stare at me because I'm famous but.. never mind. Haha.

Then Clifford came over to us and we mingled for a little while. It's been years since I saw him! So glad to (finally) meet you again Clifford! His friends made some weird (annoying) sounds while he was talking to Nat and I. *tease* Why? Jealous arh? If you wanna talk to me, come la.. Hahahahaha.

Me: You're still fair.
Cliff: Really meh?
Me: Yah. Don't you go under the sun?
Cliff: Got la!
Me: You're still fair... But Melvin's fairer. Haha.

I can't help it. I'm a little bit of a tease. Maybe more than a little bit. There. I said it. I'm a tease. Ask Eunice. She knows.

Then I met Zoe aka Hui Yi. She sat next to me during the test. And she found out that I was her teacher's daughter and she said it out (kinda) loud, the whole class heard it I think. *eee. malu lah*

One hour, 60 questions, lengthy passages. 'Engbun teng teng kao kao' one some more. I didn't manage to finish it. I shaded all of them anyways.

Around 10am, my mom sent us back to BL. It was suppose to be English period but my teacher wasn't there so we had free period. Period. *stomach cramps* I felt uncomfy so I decided to call my dad and ask him to pick me up. So, I went home. I missed a little bit of Add Math and History. History... ahhh whatever.

That's how I skipped school.

Belle wrote something. Click 'show original post' here to read. Read the lower section after the tag.
So nice of you, Belle. Unlike Neece who called me the B-word. Hahaha. She's a MOSS. *why Moss? Ask me to find out* Haha.

Don't make me 'express' it, Neece. Oh, I can't post 'it' yet. I can't take the picture, you see.. unless I scan it. OH! Scan.. haha.

It's late. I should get some Z.

I need to bounce back.

Sports Day Painted Purple

(pictures towards the end of post)

I know. I'm super duper late on this one. School sports day was a month ago and first trial exams just ended last Friday. Now, I'm in the mood to blog, about SMKBL Sports Day.

Back in Form 1, I told myself that I wasn't gonna get myself too involved in school sports day anymore because the competition in secondary school is gonna be more challenging, less chances of winning, less fun.

I was wrong. So, so wrong.

Instead, I've been involved every year, since Form 1 until Form 5. I'm in the (Almighty) Amethyst House. We're purple :D I've been a loyal Amethystian and still am. Haha. In Form 1, I only participated in sprint events and relays. Then, I realised they were better girls in my category so in Form 2, I planned to pull out from the sprint events and only join the relay but i couldn't escape. They weren't enough athletes.

(in Form 1)
Me: Who's that? *points at Bong Yang*
Adele: Oh, that's our (afternoon session) captain. He's the 'fit' type ..

Haha.

In Form 2, Churchill and I were captain and vice-captain for the afternoon session. (Both of us were also heads of Rumah Merah back in Primary 6 and we won that year). Amethyst won in 2005 and I got my first gold, 4x100m. That was the best 4x100m relay team I've ever had. Haha.

2006 (Form 3). Yet another year of sports day and I just couldn't escape from it. If I didn't participate, I would feel as if I'm letting my team down. That year, I was put in the wrong events. I didn't register my name in those events at the beginning of the year and I sure didn't attend any of the practices. Javelin, shot put, discus. HUH?! On field, I was like one of the shortest or smallest in size. The others were like 'big' and taller than me. Strength and power events, whaddya think? I came in 2nd for shot put and discus, surprisingly. Before javelin, I had Marlene to teach me how to throw the javelin, briefly. It was really kind of her to do so. I know she was the defending champion so I didn't expect much from javelin. My first 2 attempts were called bad because I crossed the line but my 3rd was the winning one. I will forever remember the day I was the underdog and won the javelin event, beating the others who looked more likely to win. *all smiles* When I told my parents, they couldn't believe it. They still think I'm not one who has the 'size and power' to do such events.

Amethyst finished in the bottom half that year, I think.

I decided to join those 3 individual events after that, plus relays. Field events are really fun, believe me. They are less stressful unlike track events where you have to go on your mark and wait for the pistol. I hate the pistol. It's loud and scary. For field events, you can take your (sweet) time getting into position and you don't have to rush. You can chat with your friends while waiting for your turn and so on. Haha.

Form 4.
5 medals from 5 events. 3 individual and 2 relays. The best achievement so far in my 'secondary school sports day' life. I had a bad sunburn that year. My cheeks hurt so much so I went to the PBSM room and asked for ice. They gave me a plastic bag with a rather big piece of ice cos' they didnt't have cubes and told me not to rub my cheeks. My team finished 5th.

This year, Churchill and I were captain and vice-captain again, this time it's for real. We're the seniors now. So we had to kinda take charge at bigger scale than when we were in Form 2. Honestly speaking, I dreaded for sports day this year. Amethyst wasn't considered as a threat to other houses because we weren't able to retain ourselves at the top half after we were crowned champions in 2005. I myself didn't expect us to finish first but I was determined to improve our position and not finish last (and lets not in the years to come, shall we?). Before sports day, I asked a few teammates if they think we could win this year and they answered-not a chance.
Pessimistic you say? I was too.

Training only started in June after the school holidays and sports day was on July 3rd and 4th. As VC, I felt obligated to attend if not all, most of the training sessions. And I did. I had to sacrifice my 'nap time' every weekday to go for training. For Amethyst, I did. Haha. Churchill was busy with his drama practices in the whole month of June but he still made efforts to come for training. Thanks.

I must say, Zaty is the best secretary ever! Period! Haha. You have no idea what the both of us went through. A lot! It was a good experience though, I got to know her better after that. We walked from block to block, making announcements, skipped class (our Amethyst teacher signed permission letters for every day that we had to skip class). She even went all the way to an ex-Amethystian's house to get the 'Dinosaur' flag. That's what we call it. Haha.

My number this year. I had 258 one year.. (ji-go-pek) ngaiti.. Haha.

On the 3rd of July, we had a problem with the athletes' numbers. Some forgot to bring, some numbers were missing and my teacher had the wrong list (I left the correct list with him the day before and he said I didn't. I was so frustrated, he asked me to help with the numbers but I had to register for my javelin already so I was excused. Luckily I took my number the day before). My teacher had the list with numbers that I've arranged for every athlete a week earlier but we were actually suppose to use the ones that were rearranged by the school's sports committee. It was chaotic.

The first day ended with a heavy downpour. I was all ready for the 4x400m but they postponed it to the next day because it was raining so heavily and there was thunder and lightning. The results weren't for the first day weren't announced so all of us didn't know who's leading.

The most interesting event (I think) would be the 4x100m. The crowd would get all hyped up cheering and all that. I was counting on Girls B and C to do well in the relay and they didn't let me down. Girls A was... well, we finished 5th. Someone posted a video of Girls A 4x100m somewhere. It's titled 'Amber menang 4x100...' something like that. Haha.

During the closing ceremony (before the results were announced), a few of us were pretty confident that Amethyst might have a chance of winning after all. Oh how nervous I was standing down there. When we were announced champions for Girls B and C and Boys A, I knew something good was in store for us.

We started off humbly and with very little hope of winning but we emerged as Champions of 2008, beyond everyone's expectations. Now, that is something we can all look back at and be very proud of. I didn't win, WE did. We won, as a team (march-pass too. Yeah!). I would like to say thank you to everyone involved and I appreciate all your efforts. I love July the 4th 2008. (not USA's July the 4th. Lol)

Zaty, Von, Fiona (Sportsgirl Category B), Steffi and Zandora.

Oh how I admire Fiona's spirit. She's a new student in BL, yet she has so much determination. She didn't care whether the colour of her medal was gold, silver or bronze, she just wanted to contribute as much as she could for her team, she wanted to get us more points and make us champions. She won gold in long jump, triple jump and high jump and a silver in 4x100m. Steffi may be small, but she's a hell of a sprinter. Don't under estimate. No, never under estimate.

I got 2nd place in javelin and shot put. My competition were Upper Six-ers what.. Haha.

Front row from L-R: Churchill, Aaron, Zaty, Nick (in white) and Jackson, our 'Jumper'. (peace sign, leaning on Nick)

Before Jackson's high jump event.

Me: Good luck arh..
Jackson: Die lor... *gives me a hopeless-looking face*

He won gold. The guy in 2nd place was much taller than him. Don't be fooled by this innocent-looking guy, he's very good in long jump and triple jump too.

Group picture. Spot me.

I can only hope for the best for next year's batch. Sports day is more than just about winning, it has brought me closer to people, teachers and I also made new friends and learned new things. Sports day will be something I will truly miss once I finish secondary school. This year, my last year, has been a good and definitely a memorable one ('cos Tribe Purple won!).

Amethyst Annihilates!
I've never tried long jump and triple jump because I don't know how to and I'm afraid that I might sprain my ankle or something and never get to play badminton again. Haha. As for high jump, look at me. You think? Haha.

Say My Name

Introduction: My name is Yvonne, or the complete and up to date version - Amelia Yvonne Sng Shi Wen. Yvonne is my birth name while Amelia is my confirmation name. You can call me Von.

I came back from church earlier and found a bunch of certificates on the piano. It was meant for my friends and I who participated in a Red Crescent convention last year. I'll have to distribute them then..

The first thing I did when I saw my cert was to check if my name was correct, of course. But, NOOOOOOOOH! It's spelled wrongly!

yVVone

Double V? Wow. Haha. How is that possible? I've written my name uncountable times and I'm sure I won't make a mistake writing my beautiful name and I will certainly check to see if my writing was clear enough for anyone else to read. So Mr/Mrs/Ms Typist, how did you get my name wrong? Did you double, triple, quadruple check?

The last time my name was spelled wrongly was also an RC cert. I had to wait for about a year to get a new one.

Even ABRSM made a mistake. This one's funnier, it isn't even my name. Haha.

Where's the V??

And then..

So there's Yvvone, Yunne, Yvone.. The thing is, some people 'modify' the spellings of names. Like, 'Jayden' can be spelled in many different ways (I read this in a newspaper article some time ago).

Yvonne is a female given name. It is French in origin, and is the female form of Yvon, which is derived from the Germanic name Yves. This name means "beautiful girl", from the Germanic word Iv meaning "yew."

Common variations of this name include Evonne, Ivonette and Yvon.
That's from wikipedia.

Yvonne is a pretty popular name nowadays, I think... Haha. I don't know. I'm just saying that because I know about 3 Yvonnes.

When I was younger, I asked my mom why she named me Yvonne, and she said she liked the name. So, I'm Yvonne. (aww.. thank you mom. I love my name).

Not only has my front name been misspelled, but also my surname. 'SNG'. It's odd, I know. It's not a common surname in Malaysia, but it is, in Singapore (so I've heard). So I have a unique surname? Haha. jk. Some had spelled my name 'Yvonne Sing'. Some 'S'ng'. But not anymore I guess. 'Sng' is actually 'sun' in Mandarin. I'll post up it's history, if I can :P

SPM is soon and YES, I've checked through the registration slip many many times and I even asked my friends to check my particulars and there's nothing wrong about it. So if (somehow) my name is misspelled in SPM (WHICH I PRAY/HOPE/WISH WILL NOT HAPPEN AT ALL), it would be the typist's fault.

I'm gonna send the cert back and make them type me a new one. Muahaha.

I gotta go. Theory class later where I have to do one full paper.

Theory exam on the 18th. Wish me luck. ;)
